clients by phone or email. Curves, color, texture and pattern captivate me. My images come from my heart with recurring images of friendship,
unity, peace and all things mother nature. Currently I look at the paintings of Modigliani and children’s drawings for creative inspiration. Although
I find my hair isn’t really worth the trouble there isn’t a creative challenge that I’m not eager to dive right into.
I work traditionally in watercolor and ink or digitally in Adobe Illustrator. I love the layering of subtle colors that come with watercolor and the ease
of editing and tweeking my drawings on the computer in Illustrator. In addition to teaching here at Post Road Art Center I also teach at the
Munroe Center for the Arts, ArtSpan in Lexington MA and work as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer.
My artwork has been exhibited at:
Grove Street Gallery, Worcester MA
Hudson Arts Alliance, Hudson, MA
Liberty Gallery, Louisville, KY
Newport Art Museum, Newport RI
Post Road Art Center, Marlboro MA
Society of Illustrators, New York, NY
Some of my illustration clients include:

Start date to be determined; Exploring Art for ages 5-8 yrs
old: Fridays from 4-5:30 p.m. 8 weeks $160 or $25 each.
For kids this age I do "projects". I generally give them some guidelines to
follow so we are all doing the same thing but it's open for them to use their
imagination. This way not everyone's look the same and I encourage them to
look at each other’s work and speak positively about the art. I show them
examples that are varied but fall within the guidelines to give them an idea of
what is expected. I show samples of famous artists or illustrators as well as
other art made by children. At 5 to 7 the skill sets vary greatly between kids
and I like to keep it open enough that it is fun for everyone and won't to
frustrate the ones who aren't as developed. Basically each week we try a
different medium and I alternate between drawing, painting and crafty (cut
and glue) projects as the class goes on. We would use all sorts of mediums,
such as pastels, watercolors, markers, tempera, cut paper. In exploring the
different materials I have done various things like, self-portraits, Eric Carle
inspired collages, musical painting. (it's like musical chairs but we move
around the table and paint abstractly on paper to music --- makes great
collage papers) We talk about mixing colors. Learn about symmetry by
making bugs where both sides need to match. I have them draw their dreams
or build their favorite places. It's the kind of stuff that they do in kindergarten
or 1st grade to develop their fine motor skills. I make it fun and safe and every
week they will finish something. Kids that finish early do "free draw" until the
class is over. Since the younger they are the quicker they tend to finish. I am
enthusiastic and encourage them to express themselves and make what they
likes so they leave feeling good about what they have done. I have a child in
one of my classes who has Asperger’s and no matter what we work on we
figure out a way for him to make it a train since that is his obsession. We
have a lot of fun together figuring out how a self-portrait or a still life can look
like or turn into a train!
