Aquarelle, Charcoal and Pastel, Oh My!- Mondays 6-9p.m. $200.00
Beginners
Prerequisite: Your mind works best when it functions like a parachute, it works best when it is open! This course doesn’t guarantee that you’ll
be the next Leonardo Di Vinci....but you never know.
It doesn’t matter what you prefer, the skills are the same. The only difference, is how to get your materials to make the kind of marks/drawing
you want. This class, will offer demonstrations, hands on exercises to get the most out of your art supplies.
I believe you need to walk before your run, so we’ll start off with basic drawing terms and techniques: shading, creating volume, values, darks,
lights, composition. We’ll explore a new term—what elements make a great drawing: or:  C R A P = Contrasts, Repetition, Assimilation, and
Proximity. This acronyms, will help you create better drawings, really. Analogies will be used to reinforce new ways of looking and seeing your
subject matter.
We’ll do some quick drawing exercises to loosen you up, then you pick what you want to draw for subject matter, exercising your artistic bones
prior to cracking open your new drawing materials.
This course will introduce you to: drawing objects/still life, and abstract expression.
Weekly, depending on how fast we progress, you can offer suggested ideas for following classes. Many examples will be shown—
discussions will take place to reinforce these new ideas. I’ll show the wide range of what a charcoal, pastels, and Aquarelle drawing are all
about.
Learn how each material differs and how to use them to communicate your story and passion. Perfection isn’t the goal, I’ll help you breakdown
all those self directed, negative thoughts that plague lots of budding artist, and established artist too. I bet you’ll walk away with something
you’re proud to show off. These lessons will be presented in an enjoyable process offered in a light, informative teaching environment.

Draw as you like and die happy!
