Making Time

Updated: Jan 8, 2020

It was very hard to drag myself across the parking lot with a pile of supplies to paint with Bob Collins on Thursday night...... I had been working since 9:30 non-stop and it was now 7:00 p.m. But, we had a model and no students AND I had just blogged about how we need to make time for our art. So I did it!! I went over and painted for two hours and it went by in a moment. It was fabulous fun!!

I hadn't worked with a model in at least a year, probably more and I just felt a bit blank on what I wanted to do. I have seen other artists working abstractly with the figure and I thought I would like to give that a try. As many of you may know I like to play with color a bit, however when I grabbed my paint I hadn't brought much. So, I decided to work with the primaries and white. I found abstracting the model much harder than it looks:) As most things with art. Here is the result. Let me know what you think.

Experimental Abstract

More than anything, it felt great to be painting and creating. I think this week it would be awesome if we all tried to encourage each other to fit in some time to create art. We certainly could all use a little more happiness:)
