In this hands-on class, you'll explore various techniques and materials that allow your artwork to shine while staying protected and beautifully presented. We'll dive into alternative surfaces, and learn how to properly seal and finish your paintings for a durable, display-ready result. Perfect for artists looking to expand their watercolor repertoire, this class will cover everything from surface preparation to final sealing. Whether you're aiming for a modern, frameless look or simply want to avoid the hassle and cost of glass framing, this class will provide you with the tools and knowledge to achieve your goals. Join us and take your watercolor practice to the next level! Supplies to bring to class: Surfaces: · Stretched Canvas or Wood Panel (8 x 10 or 9x12 ) ·Arches or other artist-quality watercolor paper:  5 x 7 or 6 x 8 Watercolor Paints: ·A selection of high-quality watercolor paints, including primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and secondary colors (green, orange, purple) Brushes: ·Round Brushes:-Sizes 4, 8, and 12 ·Flat Brushes: sizes -1/2 inch and 1 inch ·Detail Brush: Size 0 or 1 for fine details Mediums and Varnishes: ·Watercolor Ground; (for priming surfaces if needed) ·Cold Wax Medium; (optional, for a unique finish and additional protection) Additional Tools: ·Masking Tape or Artist's Tape ·Palette (for mixing colors) ·Spray Bottle for water) ·Palette Knife; (for applying watercolor ground or texture effects) ·Sandpaper (fine grit, for smoothing wood panels) ·Soft Cloths;or;Paper Towels (for cleaning and wiping surfaces) ·Water Containers;(two, for clean and dirty water) Finishing Supplies: ·Soft Brush;(for applying varnish) ·Lint-Free Cloth(for dusting surfaces before sealing) ·Protective Gloves;(optional, for handling varnish) Other: ·Apron or Old Shirt;(to protect clothing) ·Notebook and Pen;(for taking notes during class)

Cancellation Policy

COURSE CANCELLATION: A full refund will be provided if a course cancellation occurs due to lack of sufficient enrollment or unexpected teacher absence. (min. enrollment requirement to run a group class is 3 full time students). CANCELLATION DUE TO WEATHER: In the case of inclement weather or unexpected teacher absences during a single class, a make-up class will be scheduled or credit will be given to students. SKIPPED CLASSES: No refunds or credits are given to students who skip a class. STUDENT CANCELLATIONS: Students can cancel their class registration no less than 48 hours in advance of the class start date and receive a refund or credit for a different class (their choice). Those canceling their registration less than 48 hours before the start of class will not receive a refund or credit. ART SUPPLIES: All students should bring their own supplies to class unless the class description indicates otherwise. Those who forget their own supplies will need to purchase supplies in the store or they will not be able to participate in the class, they are welcome to just watch. **All students will receive 15% OFF art supplies not already on sale for the duration of the class. We are happy to help you pick out what you will need! PARENTS: If your child is taking an art class, please be sure they make it safely into the art house for their class before leaving. Please do your best to be on time when picking your child up from class. OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS: Classes are held in the art house across the parking lot from the Post Road Art Center shop. Payments can be made online or in the shop (the big purple building). Our class sizes are small which allows for more individualized learning experiences. We make every effort to avoid last-minute cancellations and always try our best to make your experience great while taking an art class here at Post Road Art Center.
