Class Description

Bring on the color! In this one-day workshop explore various approaches to painting florals using pastels through fun exercises, demonstrations, and plenty of hands-on practice. The class will include instructor demonstrations, interaction, and individual critiques, designed for beginners getting started with pastels and experienced painters interested in taking a fresh approach. The workshop is energetic, highly interactive, and individualized to student needs. Students receive a 15% discount at Post Road Art Center - If you are short on time, just give us a call and we will put supplies together for you. 508-485-2580 Materials List • Small Sketchbook • Compressed charcoal for preliminary sketches (or a pencil works, if need be) • Kneaded eraser • Pastel set – Soft and/or hard pastels. DO NOT PURCHASE OIL PASTELS. Student-level sets okay – should contain a variety of darks & lights Richeson, Rembrandt, Faber Castell, Nupastel sets are a great choice. (set of 24 or 36) • Sanded UArt pastel paper. 400 grit, 9x12”, natural color, not dark). DO NOT USE OTHER PASTEL PAPER. A pad of 10 or single sheets Uart We will use 1 sheet for each lesson. • Drawing board, foam core board, or any rigid surface to go under the sanded paper - larger than 9 x 12 • 1” tape (blue painters tape best) to attach the paper to the board • 1” brush (inexpensive) for underpainting • Optional: Single sticks of dark pastels since many sets don't contain darks: Nupastel blue-violet (244) bottle green (298), spruce blue (305) • Rubbing alcohol, if available (water if not) • Small container (yogurt containers work great) for alcohol • Paper towels


Cancellation Policy

COURSE CANCELLATION: A full refund will be provided if a course cancellation occurs due to lack of sufficient enrollment or unexpected teacher absence. (min. enrollment requirement to run a group class is 3 full time students). CANCELLATION DUE TO WEATHER: In the case of inclement weather or unexpected teacher absences during a single class, a make-up class will be scheduled or credit will be given to students. SKIPPED CLASSES: No refunds or credits are given to students who skip a class. STUDENT CANCELLATIONS: Students can cancel their class registration no less than 48 hours in advance of the class start date and receive a refund or credit for a different class (their choice). Those canceling their registration less than 48 hours before the start of class will not receive a refund or credit. ART SUPPLIES: All students should bring their own supplies to class unless the class description indicates otherwise. Those who forget their own supplies will need to purchase supplies in the store or pay a $5 supply fee if they end up using classroom supplies. **All students will receive 15% OFF art supplies not already on sale for the duration of the class. We are happy to help you pick out what you will need! PARENTS: If your child is taking an art class, please be sure they make it safely into the art house for their class before leaving. Please do your best to be on time when picking your child up from class. OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS: Classes are held in the art house across the parking lot from the Post Road Art Center shop. Payments can be made online or in the shop (the big purple building). Our class sizes are small which allows for more individualized learning experiences. We make every effort to avoid last-minute cancellations and always try our best to make your experience great while taking an art class here at Post Road Art Center.
